Wedding Trends for 2010

2010 Is A Great Time For Love, and brides get to be in-the-know about what is the "in" trends in weddings:
• For Colors: Purple Is The New Black. Purple is passion! Purple is versatile, leaning towards either blue or red in its hue. Bolder color schemes include bridal accessories, to bridesmaids gowns and to your florals and even the invitations. This goes hand in hand with a "theme" wedding but that trend is one you probably already know about.
• Wedding Videography goes HD. Yes, now professional wedding video can take advantage of that big LCD or Plasma TV you have! To learn more, click here.
• For Gowns: the two trends of vintage gowns and high-glamour gowns create an interesting interatction. For the reception, lose the train and the bustle and change into a shorter skirt, recpetion-specific gown.
• Wedding Budget Priorities. Couples realize the most important things are making an impression and getting great memories. Couples want their photos in Digital format as well as Online Galleries. More money is allocated to truly professional wedding phtogography, so go with experienced couture wedding imagery by Wedding Photographer Dallas.
Second, smaller Dallas destination weddings will be in vogue throughout 2010. Well-to-do couples will turn on the charm for a gala affair. Others will document a less extravagant wedding with tasteful photography and videography.
• Reception Entertainment: High end weddings will opt for a live band (again increasing the glamour and making a memorable impression) while the rest of the couples will more often choose the inexpensive iPod as their DJ. By picking and programming their own songs ahead of time, they know they will like what they hear and dance to and can guaranteee a match for their guests. That means that the traditional wedding disc jockey will either lower prices or increase his value with light shows and emceeing and more.
• Wedding Photography: Formal and posed shots will always be included, but more and more couples are adding candid, photojournalistic photography. Black and white photos continue to be popular, as an addition to shots in color. Ask us how we provide that for you.
Visit Dallas Wedding Photography for your photo and HD wedding video needs at 214-703-0360.

Dallas Low-Light Wedding Photography FAQ

"Will my pictures turn out if the lighting is low at my wedding reception or ceremony?"
I hear this question quite often from brides. The answer really depends on the rules of the game. Will the wedding officiant let me use a flash? If the answer is no, this can make things quite difficult. The flash is a critical tool for any photographer, especially in low light situations. If the photographer is allowed use a flash your pictures should be fine.
"But my ceremoy won’t allow flash photography – is this really a problem?"
From time to time I run into a stubborn wedding officiant who refuses to let me use a flash. This can be frustrating, especially when the lighting is poor. I always urge the importance of flash to my brides. Many times with a little pleading, they can persuade the officiant to allow the use of flash. Your photos are going to turn out the best if the photographer has the freedom to use the flash.
Large dimly lit receptions halls can be another issue entirely. With high ceilings and soft tungsten light, it can be a challenge even with a flash to achieve good results. Over the years I have developed my own photographic techniques for dealing with these situations and I think the results are amazing.
Ultimately any photographer will tell you "the more light the better", but there are ways to compensate for low-light situations. Call our Dallas Wedding Photography studio at 214-703-0360.

Tips for Hiring the Perfect Wedding Photographer
Congratulations on your wedding! My wish for you is that the fairy tale you dreamed of and probably practiced as a child comes true for you with your prince charming!
There are few photography events that come close the importance of your wedding. For many brides, your wedding is the first time you will hire a professional photographer. With no prior experience in commissioning a professional photographer, you may be tempted to make the mistake of shopping for a photographer as you shop for other items for the wedding…based on price. However, what you are paying for is the quality of your memories and you will want the best photography you can afford.
I love today's professional digital photography. As a professional wedding photographer in Dallas, it allows me to take many more photos and weed through them later. But sadly digital photography also allows mediocre people to spend a few hundred at some store and point and shoot and dare to call themselves professional photographers.
Just a few years ago, you had to have a strong knowledge of posing, lighting and technical aspects of capturing beautiful images on film. Most wedding photographers would show up at your wedding with ten to thirty thousand of dollars of equipment. Today you can get a decent amateur digital camera for $600 and you are now a “professional wedding photographer”. So how do you make the best investment in a professional wedding photographer?
1) Establish a budget for photography. Martha Stewart suggests 20% of the total wedding budget. (If your total wedding budget, dress, flowers, venue, food, beverages, entertainment, etc. is $15,000 then your photography budget should be $3,000)
2) Discuss their formal training in photography and years in business. (not how long they have been taking pictures) Keep in mind that 50% of small businesses in America fail in the first five years. On the other hand, we are in our 10th years of success.
3) Make certain your wedding package includes EVERYTHING you want, from photography of the wedding day to a completed wedding album. (57% of brides surveyed by Kodak in 2007 only received a high resolution DVD of images – NO PRINTED PICTURES AND NO WEDDING ALBUM) The largest amount of time and often talent, in addition to capturing the photographs on your wedding day, occurs after the wedding. It is all the post-production of the wedding including digital processing, color correction and retouching of the images and designing and printing a beautiful wedding album that require tremendous talent and TIME.
Post production is NOT an option that is available at most one-hour photo labs – so you ARE NOT saving money trying to have your images printed yourself. Could you imagine going to a lawyer and after a very expensive hour of her time – she sends you home with a do it yourself kit to finish your legal documents?
4) How does your photographer archive your wedding files? Get a purchase option for your files in writing. If you do get a DVD of images, immediately make a copy to your hard drive and a second copy to place in your safe deposit box at your bank.
5) Find out your photographer’s backup plans. In the event of an illness, accident, or other event preventing your photographer from being able to photograph your wedding, learn their contingency plan to have your event photographed with equal or greater talent. Also, what is their equipment contingency plan? Do they have a back-up camera and back-up lighting equipment in case something is dropped and damaged in the middle of your wedding?
At WeddingPhotographerDallas.com, I bring backup equipment from cameras to memory cards and batteries, etc. We also work with other photographers of similar experience so you know you will always be in good hands.
Our MAGNOLIA package is for brides who do not need a wedding album. Our LILY and ORCHID Dallas wedding photography packages include gorgeous custom-designed wedding albums from Italy. We also offer professional wedding video packages too. We welcome the opportunity to create exquisite images of your wedding day!

Outdoor Spring Bridal Portraits - Dallas

Spring is a wonderful time for love... and bridal portraits. I prefer to take Dallas bridal portraits outdoors in a natural setting. I make use of a light and airy portrait technique to give the bridal portrait an open and fresh feel.See more Dallas bridal portrait samples at this link.
In fact, outdoor weddings make for beautiful wedding photography opportunities. I can step back an zoom in to capture the facial expressions without anyone noticing. As the wedding photographer I know how to make the most of light and composition for beautiful results.
An outdoor bridal portrait or wedding allows vivid color and the natural beauty of your surroundings to accentuate the love in the air. The need for a flash in your wedding photography is lessened and natural light adds to a sense of freedom that will show in your wedding album.

Love at Christmas
God's expression of committed love was to send His Son, Jesus the Messiah, in a human body to, not just tell, but show us what God is like and the love He wants us to live out to each other.

What a beautiful way to join in that love by getting married during the Christmas holidays. As a bride-to-be or a groom you naturally understand that love was never meant to die. The whole point of committing your lives to each other is to always live, being that giving kind of covenant love for each other.
God is all about a forever romance. Although He did send His beloved Son to be born in order to live a life of perfect love and then die, that death was only the first part of the story. Jesus died For us; although perfectly pure and innocent, He lovingly volunteered to take sin (unlove) all into himself and then die, thereby also killing sin's power to separate us from an eternal love-relationship with God. Jesus died to kill the power of sin to ruin our hearts and lives -- so that real love could live free.
Jesus then overcame death itself and rose back to life, proved his resurrection to His disciples and then returned to heaven where, exactly like a bridegroom, he is preparing a place for those that love Him (believers are called his "bride') to live in this forever love. Jesus is returning to Earth to take us to live with himself where we will give and receive perfect love in unedning heaven. It is ALL ABOUT True Love.
My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can't know him if you don't love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son Jesus into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God.
God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ's. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.
Every person who believes that Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah, is God-begotten. If we love the One who conceives the child, we'll surely love the child who was conceived. The reality test on whether or not we love God's children is this: Do we love God? Do we keep his commands? The proof that we love God comes when we keep his commandments and they are not at all troublesome.

What a beautiful way to join in that love by getting married during the Christmas holidays. As a bride-to-be or a groom you naturally understand that love was never meant to die. The whole point of committing your lives to each other is to always live, being that giving kind of covenant love for each other.

This Christmas, remember that "We love because Jesus loved us First." (1 John 4:19) May Jesus the Messiah live in your hearts as we commemorate his birth.
Here is what John, the disciple who experienced Jesus firsthand for years, writes about God's love: 1 John 4:7 – 5:3
My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!
This is how we know we're living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He's given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we've seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son Jesus as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God's Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we've embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God.
We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. God loved us first.
If anyone boasts, "I love God," and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won't love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can't see? The command we have from Christ is unmistakeable: Loving God includes loving people. You've got to love both.
